Birthstones
Each month of the year is associated with a specific stone. A stone with its own symbol and virtues.
Since the dawn of time, stones have been considered a virtuous element and used as lucky objects. In a way, these treasures are magical. Intimately linked to our personal history, birthstones offer a unique opportunity to register our most beautiful moments in time.
History of birthstones
In Western culture, we find in the Old Testament a reference to the stones that Aaron wore on his breastplate, 12 stones for the 12 months of the year. It was in 1560 in Germany that the tradition of associating a stone with the birth of a child in the form of a pendant or a ring originated.

January Stone: the garnet
SYMBOLS: Energy, fidelity, truth
TRADITIONS: Garnet was used as a stone for protection against harmful energies.
DESCRIPTION: Garnet brings courage, joy but also the strength to live. A stone of confidence, garnet is associated with willpower, success but also a boost in self-confidence.
February Stone: the amethyst
SYMBOLS: Clairvoyance, plenitude, sincerity
TRADITIONS: Amethyst was said to calm anxieties and protect from nightmares.
DESCRIPTION: Amethyst offers all the virtues related to the crown chakra. It helps to stimulate creativity while providing clarity and imagination. Amethyst stone also helps concentration.
Mars stone: the aquamarine
SYMBOLS: Calm, serenity
TRADITIONS: Aquamarine protected sailors in their voyage at sea from the wrath of Poseidon.
DESCRIPTION: Aquamarine is ideal for promoting communication with others, but also for general soothing. In addition, it is recommended to bring love while promoting expressiveness.
April Stone: the diamond
SYMBOLS: Courage, strength
TRADITIONS: The diamond was worn by Indian warriors to protect themselves from danger.
DESCRIPTION: Diamond is the mineral of the symbolical 7th chakra and offers connection to cosmic forces. In the symbolism, it allows the discovery of subtle energies which traverse the universe.
May Stone: the esmerald
SYMBOL: Protection
TRADITIONS: The emerald was used by sailors and travellers to protect themselves from dangers.
DESCRIPTION: The emerald is the stone that contributes to good relationships, whether they are at the heart of the family or the marital relationship. This stone brings righteousness, inner calm and understanding.
June Stone: the moon stone
SYMBOLS: Femininity, marriage
TRADITIONS: Moonstone was used as a remedy, but also during weddings in ancient Greece.
DESCRIPTION: Moonstone brings all the joys of this stone, essentially linked to love for the family or for the child. This stone acts on the astral and mental bodies while allowing the regulation of emotions.
July Stone: the ruby
SYMBOLS: Divine love, courage, loyalty
TRADITIONS: The ruby embodied the inner fire for the Indians and helped to dispel anger.
DESCRIPTION: Ruby offers invigorating and disinfecting virtues to the one who wears it. A stone of courage and loyalty, the ruby is a stone of life which is associated as closely as possible to the root chakra and the heart chakra.
August stone: the peridot
SYMBOLS: Joy, inner peace
TRADITIONS: Peridot brought balance, joy and inner peace.
DESCRIPTION: Peridot offers self-confidence while strengthening the mind. Bringing inner peace, this stone allows you to erase guilt and nourishes the spiritual quest.
September stone: the sapphire
SYMBOLS: Faithfulness, truth
TRADITIONS: Sapphire protected against negative waves and evil energy.
DESCRIPTION: Sapphire is a stone which promotes spiritual elevation but also meditation. It calms fears while promoting dynamism. Sapphire aids concentration and creativity.
October stone: the tourmaline
SYMBOL: Immortality
TRADITIONS: Tourmaline was believed to develop concentration, self-confidence and appeasement.
DESCRIPTION: Tourmaline is of great emotional comfort. It helps to repair all heart pains and especially those that go back to childhood. Tourmaline erases destructive patterns.
November stone: the citrine
SYMBOL: Joy of living
TRADITIONS: Citrine was used to protect against harmful thoughts and the venom of snakes.
DESCRIPTION: Citrine brings you success, the joy of living as well as prosperity. A stone of energy balance, citrine promotes concentration and helps purify and eliminate negative energies.
December stone: the tanzanite
SYMBOLS: Strength, union
TRADITIONS: Tanzanite was said to have beneficial effects on the brain and the nervous system.
DESCRIPTION: Tanzanite stimulates the imagination and creativity, it would be the ally of artists, writers, musicians and other creators. It would increase memorization skills and intellectual curiosity.
